Blogger Brunch: Denim Street Style

November 7, 2013

Back in August I attended a wonderful Blogger Brunch hosted by Nicole from Vanilla Extract at Wanelo. It was an awesome event with fabulous people and delicious treats, plus I got to take photos of the ridiculously trendy attendees for Rue Magazine's Denim Street Style article with Gap. Needless to say it's time for me to go shopping to recreate some of these styles. You can read the whole article here.

Percent Lookbook- Featured on Rue

August 13, 2013

A few months ago I collaborated with Kat McEachern, Sara from Sarah’s Ambition, and Kelli from Leopard and Lavender to shoot a lookbook for Kat’s gorgeous jewelry line, percent. From bright necklaces and earrings to beautiful bracelets, every piece is completely unique and handmade from repurposed materials. I love a good chunky statement necklace myself and Kat delivers all my needs with bright colors, unique beads and gorgeous designs. You can check out her work on BRIKA and Etsy and see her line (and our shoot!) featured on Rue!

current obsession: vests vests vests

October 2, 2012

Vests usually remind me of 6th grade when my mom would try to convince me to wear my neon green vest to walk to the bus stop so I wouldn't freeze to death (but of course freezing is much better than a fashion faux pas such as wearing a vest). However, as the temperatures begin to drop and fall arrives to the Bay Area I've been OBSESSED with vests. Seriously obsessed. This weekend I may or may not have purchased two and wore them nonstop (despite the 85 degree weather we had). But they are usually perfect for San Francisco since layering is key to surviving the fog. Here are some of my top picks:

damn you, forever 21

July 17, 2012

I went into Forever 21 to return a dress that I didn't absolutely love but instead of being a good little girl and just returning the dress, I walked away with 2 necklaces, earrings, a pretty ring, 1 skirt, 1 sweater, and 2 dresses, including this adorable simple white frock-thingy. I can never go into there without getting at least 1 thing- there is just so much and they are all so inexpensive, it's hard to justify not buying it when I'm sure I'll find something to wear it to that'll be worth the $12 I spent on it. I swear I need these Sensory Deprivator 5000 glasses whenever I enter the store so I'm not tempted to get anything. Or maybe I should just cave in an make arrangements to direct deposit my entire paycheck to Forever 21...

summer lovin'

June 20, 2012

Happy first day of summer!
For the first time in history San Francisco has decided to behave like a normal city and has embraced summer by providing us with gorgeous warm weather. I can't help myself from dreaming about being poolside/beachside/lakeside/anywhere with water and soaking up the sun over the next couple of months, and to celebrate this incessant daydream, I thought I'd share some of my summer favorites: summer dresses, sunny day sandals, state fairs, wide angle cameras, backyard dinner parties, bonfires, river floating, s'mores, summer adventure outfits, Tahoe, 4th of July, and OUTSIDELANDS!

anna and the coral pants {a love story}

May 29, 2012

Ladies and Gentlemen, you see these here pants? Aren't they just the perfect color for spring? And don't they look oh so comfy? {oh they are} I'd like to tell you a beautiful love story that I call "Anna and the Coral Pants." Grab some tea, settle in, and get ready for a wild and extremely long and pointless story.

You see, for months now I've been in search of the perfect pants for spring. I recently had a bad breakup with my regular jeans (we weren't getting along very well, they were just being too clingy! har har) so I had been searching for pants that will make me feel ooolalalovely as well as fitting the current fashion trend of colorful jeans. Well, one not so special day I was feeling particularly stressed at work so I decided to venture out of my cubicle and somehow stumbled into Gap. Oops. I almost left without getting anything but my all of a sudden, from across the store,  my eyes caught site of these beautiful colored pants. {Let me just rewind for a minute by saying coral is my all time favorite color. If everything I owned had to be one color, I would choose coral. If my entire house needed to be decorated in one color, I'm telling ya, it would be coral. It makes me feel all goo-y inside and reminds me of a tropical vacation.} So, you shouldn't be surprised that I just about died when I saw them. These were them. I was so excited. And, to top things off, they fit PERFECTLY. Then I saw the price. Sadly, no can do $70 for some pants when you work at a nonprofit. I quickly did some mental calculations and figured if I ate beans and rice for the next week I could maybe afford them, so I went ahead and did it. Daredevil over here folks.

I was biting my nails when the lady rang me up, waiting for the final price, when I looked down and saw $4.41. That's right. FOUR DOLLARS AND FORTY ONE CENTS. " Um, ma'am, you must be mistaken??" The wonderful, beautiful, spectacular sales lady (obviously my new BFF) then told me how I saved this much money because of my Gap card and that much money in rewards and all I could do was look at her and these beautiful pants with completely creepy look of love.

So you see, folks, good things do happen. After working my butt off for the last two days I was rewarded by the shopping gods with these lovely thangs AND an unbelievable deal. I might just have to wear them to work and to the store and to dinner and to the gym and to bed. Too much? Too bad. These babies are never coming off.

ps- weekend and wedding recaps coming tomorrow, don't you worry. I feel like I need a weekend from my weekend just to edit photos and relive our glorious adventure to Ashland!

party in the front, business in the back

May 22, 2012

ps- I don't know why I am so yellow in these photos.. obviously I need to learn a thing or two in Lightroom!!

This past weekend I spent an amazing day visiting my sister at college and then going to a lovely housewarming party for a dear friend from college. It was so nice to catch up with my sister and swap fun college stories, and I had an awkwardly fun time at the day time frat party she dragged me to to meet her friends. Then I transitioned to adult mode and spent the rest of the evening celebrating my friend's move into a brand new house with her lovely boyfriend, and i had a blast small talking and enjoying the evening weather at their outdoor dinner party. While I had so much fun at both parties, I didn't feel like I was really comfortable and myself at either of them. Just a mere two years ago I was living the college life just like my sister, and now I have to pretend to be an adult and have adult conversations? The 20's are a weird age where you are trying to figure out how to be an adult when you still feel like you're a kid. I'm trapped in this weird limbo where I keep wishing I wasn't growing up so fast but I can't avoid being an adult. I did, however, get to wear this cute dress that was party in the front and business in the back. At least my clothes know how to belong in both age groups.

This weekend was for:
+ wearing a maxi skirt for the first time, and I think I'm in love: never before have I felt such comfort and classiness in one outfit. Do not judge if I wear them every day for the rest of my life because man, I sure am tempted to
+ sun desk barbecues in Sausalito with gorgeous weather, good friends, great dance moves
+ watching Cars 2 with my cuties and getting lots of cuddles
+ surprise flowers for my mama for being the world's greatest mother
+ taking her to see The Avengers. I know, I'm an awesome daughter (and the movie was AMAZING)
+snuggling  up with the roomie after being apart for far too long and catching up on our weekly TV shows (Really Grey's Anatomy? A plane crashes that has the entire cast in it? What is this, Lost? Too much.)

wednesday work wardrobe

May 2, 2012

I've never posted a outfit post before but admire people that do and I'm always so inspired. I've always been super hesitant to take part in outfit posting because I know I do not have an outstandingly awesome fashion sense, but this morning I looked in the mirror and thought, " I look like a lady today". This is a rare occurrence for me, as I usually forgo stylish for comfy, especially at work since I sit for hours and usually see a total of 4 people throughout the entire day. However, I've recently noticed (and been told by my wonderful co-workers..) that my attire has become a major issue since I am currently 24 and have started to dress like a grandma ( turtlenecks and clogs are comfy. whatever.) So, in order to avoid the rapid downfall of my fashion sense and style, I will start to post some pictures of my outfits to motivate me to look like a decent, presentable, 24 year old woman during the work week ( probably on Wednesday.. Wednesdays Work Wardrobe just has a nice little ring to it.) I've also grown incredible bored with my work wardrobe, so it'll be fun to try to spice things up and find fun and stylish business casual outfits from my pile of clothes on the floor ( just kidding, I totally hang my clothes in my closet.. most of the time...)

I just realized that these pants are kind of grandma pants... which definitely contradicts my whole plan of posting outfits to avoid looking like a grandma. But they are a little stylish...right???
