Today I worked from home, which means I got to take pictures around the apartment with natural light (a rarity considering our apartment only gets light in the front room and, based on where our apartment is located, we only get about 3 hours of natural light a day). I'm finally starting to feel like our apartment is ours- we've added little trinkets and collections that has made this little place our home, and while it will always be a work in progress, (I'm already getting the itch for redecorating!) right now I dig it. 

By the way, I'm thinking about starting a themed feature highlighting five things from a day/place/event/what I'm feeling like that second. We'll see how it goes :).

christmas spirit

Jack and I have spent seven christmases together as a couple but this is our first real christmas together, and we've made sure to decorate our apartment to the max. We got a perfect christmas tree at the beginning on December and have spent the last three weeks decorating our small space with lights, ribbons, and paper snowflakes. Christmas time is such a magical time, but this christmas season has been a stressful one. Between finding/making christmas presents, throwing a christmas party, and trying to figure out some major life changes, I feel like I haven't gotten into the christmas spirit yet. However, coming home to this winter wonderland is the perfect cure to the long days we've been working and the stressful choices on my mind.

bits + pieces

I've been weirdly anxious about getting the new place decorated and feeling settled. I'm not sure if it's because work has been extremely stressful so I want home to be relaxing or if I'm just really excited to have people over and can't until it's finished, but this past week I've been obsessed with searching the intervebs and storefronts for the perfect carpet/curtains/dishes/frames/pillows. I know it will probably never be exactly what I picture, but it's slowly coming together and I am so happy with how it's starting to look!

exciting news

At the beginning of the year Jack and I decided we were going to move in together in August. After two months of seriously searching high and low for the perfect apartment we found it. As soon as we both walked in we knew it was the perfect place for us- with an awesome sun deck with beautiful views of the city, big bay windows looking out on a quiet neighborhood street, walking distance from our favorite part of the city, beautiful unique finishes and all new appliances... it seemed too good to be true. But last night, after shmoozing the landlord at the open house, we got a call from him saying he wanted us to live there. HE CHOSE US! 

The San Francisco renting process is so competitive these days and small, dingy apartments will go for unbelievable amounts, so we are so so so lucky and happy to have found this amazing place in our price range. So, come August 1st Jack and I are packing up our stuff and moving into our first little home together, and we could not be more excited! Pictures and decorating brainstorms to come.
